0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
- PTLE significantly improved VISA-P score more than EET at 24 weeks.
- Return-to-sport rate showed a trend favoring PTLE.
- PTLE is recommended as first-line conservative treatment for patellar tendinopathy.
"This randomized controlled trial compared progressive tendon-loading exercises (PTLE) with eccentric exercise therapy (EET) in 76 patients with patellar tendinopathy. After 24 weeks, VISA-P score improved by 28 points in the PTLE group vs 18 points in EET (adjusted difference 9, p=0.023). Return to sport rate was 43% vs 27% (p=0.13). PTLE is recommended as initial conservative treatment."
