Protocol for hybrid RCT evaluating early adapted physical activity to prevent aromatase inhibitor-induced musculoskeletal pain in breast cancer (bmjopensem.bmj.com)
- Early adapted physical activity may prevent AIMSS in breast cancer patients
- Hybrid type I design assesses both effectiveness and implementation
- Primary outcome: musculoskeletal pain prevalence at 6 months
"The APIS study protocol outlines a hybrid type I effectiveness-implementation randomized controlled trial to evaluate early personalized adapted physical activity for preventing aromatase inhibitor-associated musculoskeletal syndrome (AIMSS) in postmenopausal women with hormone-sensitive breast cancer. The primary outcome is prevalence of musculoskeletal pain at 6 months. Secondary outcomes include physical health, psychosocial well-being, treatment adherence, and implementation factors. The trial aims to recruit 182 women and will generate evidence on clinical effectiveness and real-world implementation."
