0xBASE INTEL BRIEF
  • PNF combined with stabilization exercises yields superior pain reduction and functional gains compared to conventional therapy.
  • Protocol included 3 sessions per week over 6 weeks targeting both glenohumeral and scapulothoracic control.
  • Significant improvements in VAS, active flexion, and SPADI scores with a large effect size.

"A randomized controlled trial evaluated the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) combined with shoulder stabilization exercises on pain, range of motion, and quality of life in adhesive capsulitis. The intervention group received PNF diagonals, rotational stabilization, and scapular control over 6 weeks, while controls received conventional therapy. Results showed significant improvements in pain (VAS), active range of motion, and functional outcomes (SPADI) favoring the PNF group. This provides a practical protocol for treating the later stages of adhesive capsulitis."
